Job Description The Transportation Planner will lead transportation planning and circulation design under the auspices of Vision Zero to support all commuters and visitors of Colorado State University (CSU). This position will report to the Director of Active Transportation and Fleet Services in CSU's Transportation department. The position will collaborate with across disciplines to guide circulation in Master Planning to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries among all road users while ensuring safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. CSU Transportation operates as an enterprise unit within Colorado State University, supporting employees, student commuters, and campus visitors across the Fort Collins campuses. The department is responsible for a wide range of transportation and mobility services, including managing campus parking operations and leading the university's Vision Zero safety initiative. It also oversees the planning, development, and maintenance of multimodal transportation systems, such as bicycle infrastructure, transit services, and micromobility options. This department delivers active transportation programs such as ridesharing, car-share services, and commuter education, as well as event transportation, fleet maintenance, vehicle rentals, and charter bus operations. Through these efforts, it is committed to providing safe, efficient, and accessible mobility options for the campus community and its visitors. Essential Job Duties: Lead interdisciplinary teams to improve transportation safety in our campus community. Implement CSU's Complete Street Standards and Work Zone Guidelines to iteratively improve transportation infrastructure on our campuses. Represent the importance of transportation planning and circulation in Master Planning. Update and consolidate existing transportation plans to preserve commuting corridors through our campuses. Actively review new construction and major remodel projects in Blue Beam. Serve as liaison for CSU Transportation and its work units. Ensure consistent transportation data collection to advocate for prioritized safety investments. Collaborate with the City of Fort Collins to ensure permeability and safe navigation of our campuses. Identify grant matching funds and submit grant applications to improve transportation safety. Other duties as assigned. Conditions of Employment: Valid Driver's License. Pre-Employment Criminal Background Check required for new employees. Must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire; no visa sponsorship available. Supervision: This position does not have direct reports. 0 FTE. The position will be responsible for managing complex projects with interdisciplinary teams.
