About the role

This position is located in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). This position is a leadership role as Chief of the Network Security Branch within the Cybersecurity Infrastruction Division of the Cybersecurity & Privacy Operations Center (CPOC). This position is critical role in safeguarding the USDA's enterprise network by controlling data traffic and ensuring identifying and preventing network security threats. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying: At the GS-14 level: Qualifying experience for GS-14 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-13 or equivalent to the GS-13, or its non-Federal equivalent which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is Overseeing the testing, implementation, deployment, maintenance, and administration of network security the infrastructure hardware and software and directly managing cybersecurity projects. Ensuring that the stakeholder security requirements necessary to protect the organization's mission and business processes are adequately addressed in all aspects of enterprise architecture including reference models, segment and solution architectures, and the resulting systems supporting those missions and business processes. Directly manages cybersecurity projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
