Responsibilities
- Complete all required training within established timeframes and maintain full knowledge of departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine and ad‑hoc patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, and safety or infection‑control hazards.
- Document all shift activities through accurate logs, incident reports, and required written documentation, ensuring accountability for the full duration of each shift.
- Inspect and maintain security equipment. Including patrol vehicles, uniforms, and communication devices. Reporting issues promptly and ensuring readiness for duty.
- Respond to security‑related incidents such as workplace violence reports, requests for escorts, key services, vehicle assists, and other calls for service with appropriate urgency.
- Conduct investigations, collaborate with local/state/federal agencies when authorized, and professionally interact with employees, physicians, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
- Support emergency and safety operations, including participation on the Hazardous Material/Decontamination team and assisting medical staff with violent, agitated, or restrained individuals.
- Manage patient valuables, lost‑and‑found items, and parking/traffic control; enforce parking policies and monitor visitor conduct to ensure a safe environment.
- Maintain confidentiality, report misconduct or safety concerns promptly, and keep supervisors informed of activities, location, and any changes relevant to employment.
- Perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, extended standing, and foot patrols and assist with lifting patients, visitors, staff, or deceased individuals as needed.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent
- Less than one year experience in general security, however 1 year security experience is preferred.
- All facilities require the ability to drive a company owned vehicle. Must have a current New Mexico driver's license , and must be insurable by Presbyterian Healthcare Services
