Job Description: MaineGeneral Health is seeking a skilled, collaborative, and patient-focused Physician Associate (PA-C) to join our dynamic Radiology team at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. About Our Department Our department is Joint Commission accredited and operates with a strong emphasis on compliance with American College of Radiology (ACR) standards, patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory excellence. Radiology services are supported by the Radiology Alliance of Maine (RAM) , a private Radiologist practice that has been affiliated with MaineGeneral Health for more than four decades. This long-standing partnership promotes deep collaboration, clinical excellence, and high-quality patient care. Our comprehensive department includes : Interventional Radiology (performing approximately 5,000 interventional procedures annually) Fluoroscopy Services (performing approximately 1,000 fluoroscopy-related procedures annually) Diagnostic Vascular Ultrasound and General Ultrasound Diagnostic Imaging, CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine Mammography services A dedicated Vascular Access Team A dedicated Radiology Prep and Recovery nursing team to support optimal patient care workflow In this role, the Physician Associate will: Perform fluoroscopic procedures including lumbar punctures, myelograms, joint injections, and arthrograms. Demonstrate independent clinical judgment in daily practice, including knowing when consultation or escalation to a radiologist is appropriate. Thrive in a high-volume environment, meeting on-time scheduling demands, procedural responsibilities, and department productivity expectations. Support interventional radiology workflows, assisting RAM Radiologists with a broad portfolio of image-guided interventions. Collaborate closely across a multidisciplinary team, working daily with our dedicated Radiology Prep and Recovery nursing team, radiologists, technologists, sonographers, and support staff. Maintain rigorous quality standards, ensuring all clinical activities comply with Joint Commission guidelines and ACR standards. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and performing physical exams prior to imaging procedures. Manage pre- and post-procedure care, ensuring seamless communication and workflow continuity within the department. Review clinical data and communicate critical imaging or procedural findings to referring providers and care teams. Educate patients and families regarding planned imaging procedures, potential risks, alternatives, and post-care expectations. Requirements & Qualifications Licensure : Current or eligible for licensure as a Physician Associate by the State of Maine. Certification : Board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in radiology, surgery, or interventional procedures is highly preferred; confident new graduates with strong procedural rotations will be considered. Skills : High emotional intelligence, exceptional teamwork skills, strong clinical prioritization, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
