A Day in the Life As a Senior Scientist in our Wilmington, NC lab , you'll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals. The compensation range for this role is $65,000 to $85,000 , commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities: Carry out operational duties as required in the analytical department and preparation lab Operation, management, maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation Support analysts and prep technicians with troubleshooting and problem solving Aid in standards preparation and validation Train analysts and prep technicians as required Development and writing of analytical methods, SOPs and validations Work with the Technical Director to develop new capabilities / methods and improve existing methods Assist in data compilation / review and analyzing data toward project direction goals and milestones; prepare summary of findings and observations Assist with any literature compilation for presentation or publishing Laboratory day-to-day housekeeping and ordering responsibilities as required Other duties, as assigned Your Expertise and Skills These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here. Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field 3+ years of experience in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, related field Experience in environmental sample extraction / preparation Experience in analyzing samples using chromatography and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, reliable, highly motivated, and will interact well in a team environment. The candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a high energy level, a sense of commitment to assure that obligations and quality are met and be capable of handling multiple assignments concurrently. Also required is a working knowledge of statistics, analytical software and basic computer skills, especially MS Office. Preferred Skills Experience in working in an accredited laboratory and experience with methods used for the quantitative determination of environmental contaminants Experience working in compliance with ISO 17025 and Department of Defense/Department of Energy Quality Systems Manual 6.0 accreditation standards Experience with developing and improving instrument methods and preparation methods Work Environment and Physical Requirements The physical and environmental requirements below reflect what's typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
