On-Site Engineering Operations / Facilities & Infrastructure Support. Keeps infrastructure running by monitoring systems, fixing issues, and supporting daily operations. Reliable on-site engineers keep systems running, fix issues fast, support operations, and prevent costly downtime. Entry-level on-site engineering support performing hands-on operations, monitoring, and routine issue resolution. Serve, support, and provide On-Site Engineering Support Services for the Federal Highway Administration Western Federal Lands Highway Division - Vancouver, WA. NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1) Provide on-site engineering operations support; conduct routine inspections; monitor facilities, utilities, and infrastructure systems; collect and document operational data; support preventive maintenance activities; follow FHWA and DOT SOPs; coordinate with senior engineers and contractors; respond to basic system faults and service requests. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES - Engineering Operations Technician I | Construction Project Controls Engineering [FHWA09009] The Engineering Operations Technician I interacts with WFLHD personnel in the Construction, Acquisitions and Finance departments to complete tasks. The technician supports construction branch operations and contract administration of records for initial, interim and closeout tasks related to construction projects. The technician shall carry out recurring construction branch operations and administration support procedures independently, and select the guideline or reference that fits the specific case. Contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems. Contract administration of records support includes understanding regulations and interpreting plans and specifications. The work entails analyzing, processing, organizing, extracting, compiling and maintaining a variety of information and data from engineering field notes, manuals, lab reports, progress payment estimate reports, etc. Branch operations support includes training records coordination and management, maintenance of branch manual versions, equipment tracking and coordination, meeting coordination and notetaking, and tracking and reviewing branch funding reconciliation reports. The technician may train and be assisted by other contracted technicians. The technician shall use judgment, critical thinking and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations. In addition, the technician shall, interpret policies, precedents, and practices that may be applicable to changing situations. The COR will outline objectives, requirements, and review approaches. Completed work is reviewed by the COR or other government personnel supported by the technician for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. The technician shall NOT perform any inherently governmental duty as defined in FAR Subpart 7.5. Examples of duties that the technician shall not perform include approving or rejecting contract submittals, approving contractual or other acquisition documents, defining requirements, and setting policy.
