About the role
Across Europe, fleets are under enormous pressure. Fuel costs are rising. Regulatory requirements are tightening. The shift to low-emission vehicles is accelerating. And yet around 70% of European businesses still manage their fleets manually, with spreadsheets, disconnected tools, and processes that were never built for this moment. Shiftmove exists to make this simple. We are a profitable B2B SaaS company and the fastest-growing fleet management platform in Europe, born from the merger of Avrios and Vimcar, and now serving tens of thousands of corporate customers across Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, and beyond. Most recently, we acquired Optimum and Ocean in France, expanding our footprint and doubling down on one of Europe's largest fleet markets. Our AI-powered platform connects real-time vehicle data with intelligent software so that businesses can procure smarter, control costs, stay compliant, and lead the transition to cleaner mobility, all from one place. About the role: As our Senior Product Designer for France, you will step into a foundational, "Founding Designer" style role. Based out of our Aix-en-Provence office, you will take absolute ownership of product design for our French geo-focused products: Optimum (your primary focus) and Ocean . Currently, these teams operate in a traditional, waterfall, and sales-led setup with low design maturity and no dedicated product designers. You will be the critical driver in introducing modern, product-led thinking, establishing structured design processes from scratch, and gradually bringing our French product suite into alignment with Shiftmove's global standards and design principles. What you'll own: End-to-End Design: Partner directly with Product Owners, a Freelance PM, and Engineering teams to lead the full design loop from problem framing to delivering consistent, structural solutions. Design Maturity: Establish foundational product design practices, workflows, tools, and frameworks for engineering and product teams completely new to agile and product trios. Qualitative User Research: Own user discovery end-to-end by regularly interacting with French B2B users, synthesizing qualitative insights, and validating feature directions. Strategic Product Evolution: Drive the long-term vision of our geo products to ensure they stay competitive, while maintaining the current product and mapping out potential expansion into Germany. Change Management: Act as a local change agent, actively educating cross-functional teams to transition from a sales-driven, feature-factory approach to modern product-led thinking. Global Shiftmove Alignment: Serve as the strategic bridge to Shiftmove's global design organization, participating in bi-weekly syncs and Berlin onsites to bring French products on par with global ecosystem standards. What the first 6 months might look like: Months 1 to 2: Focus on onboarding, auditing the existing UI/UX across Optimum and Ocean, and building relationships onsite in Aix with the local POs, engineers, and freelance PM. Months 3 to 4: Introduce foundational design standards and structured workflows while supporting immediate product discovery, validation, and feature alignment between Optimum and Avrios. Months 5 to 6: Drive tighter cross-functional collaboration to transition engineering away from legacy waterfall practices, while mapping out the long-term strategic vision for the French geo products. What you'll need to be successful: Systems & Process Thinking: You have a strong grasp of user-centered B2B design principles with the ability to translate complex requirements into simple, elegant user experiences. Founding Mindset & Cross-functional Collaboration: You have experience building, improving, or scaling product design practices from scratch in ambiguous, low-structure environments, while seamlessly partnering with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders. Qualitative Discovery Expertise: You have at least 6-12 months of dedicated experience running qualitative user research, interviews, and synthesis to guide product delivery. Stakeholder & Process Management: You approach communication with empathy and resilience required to guide legacy engineering teams through an agile/product-led transition. Impactful Portfolio: Your portfolio showcases meaningful product design work with clear reasoning, process, and measurable outcomes. Language Fluency: Both your English and French are on min. C1 level to collaborate with both our French and global teams. Why join us? Build products with real-world impact : We solve complex, everyday problems for thousands of businesses across Europe, replacing manual, fragmented fleet operations with data-driven, intelligent solutions people truly rely on. Scale something meaningful : We're a profitable, PE-backed scale-up with strong fundamentals and a clear ambition (1M vehicles by 2027), offering a rare mix of stability, ownership, and pace. Work in a truly internationa
