About the role

Dow Jones is seeking a Technical Analyst to join our global Automation & Reporting team, utilizing SQL, Python, and JavaScript to build automation solutions, robust reporting capabilities and manage high volumes of data across Dow Jones products. In this role, you will partner closely with multiple business teams to analyze the databases they own and design innovative technical solutions that automate their core business processes. As a key technical partner, you will manage a portfolio of deliverables in parallel, bridging the gap between complex business problems and functional technical solutions. You will be responsible for eliciting requirements from stakeholders, translating them into optimized business-centric processes, and effectively communicating progress and blockers to ensure continuous operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Solution Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain optimized solutions to meet reporting and process improvement needs. Write clean, readable code, build highly optimized SQL queries, and develop robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) jobs, tools, and visualization dashboards.
  • Stakeholder & Portfolio Management: Manage a diverse portfolio of solutions while working closely with multiple stakeholders. Identify high-impact business problems, elicit solution requirements, and effectively communicate progress and blockers to both project teams and executive sponsors.
  • Process Improvement & Ad-Hoc Support: Design and own business-centric reporting processes that actively improve the organization's operational efficiency. Remain flexible and responsive to ad hoc and urgent reporting requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Best Practices & Quality Assurance: Adopt and continuously contribute to the improvement of existing technical best practices. Ensure high standards across solution design, development, validation, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Essential Experience: Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics) or equivalent training. Self-starter capable of working independently, coordinating with multiple partners, and driving complex projects from conception to finish.
  • Technical Proficiency: 3+ years of experience utilizing SQL and Python for data analysis and data processing. Detail-oriented with a strict focus on assuring quality, consistency, and accuracy in data and processes. Proven experience working with version control systems like Git.
