About the role
The Principal Data Analyst is responsible for developing scalable solutions that use the findings of complex operational data analytics that support the automation and operational needs of the various teams. Will work closely with the managers of these teams to gain understanding of their needs/requests and perform analytics to develop solutions that will support the various custom, ad-hoc in nature, and recurring business and client requirements. This role will also be responsible for training/mentoring more junior analysts, leading projects that require multiple team members, and help in defining official operational policies for the various teams they work with. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the development of working solutions to custom client requirements and data services automation requirements, keeping in mind product capabilities, scope limitations, and the impact on integrated products employing SQL Server built in features and analytical methods. Design specific databases for collection, tracking, and reporting of administrative clinical data and operational product data for IT operational performance analysis using SQL Server Management Studio. Design, code, test and debug custom SQL queries using Microsoft SQL queries, SQL Server Management Studio, and Power BI desktop. Design, test, and deploy custom Power BI dashboards and paginated reports using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Report Builder. Lead others through designing, coding, testing, debugging, researching, and deploying projects, tasks, and initiatives that are assigned to the team. Be an expert on internal operational processes, data points and KPIs, and reporting dashboards that you oversee, including but not limited to cancellations, price increases, bookings, revenue, retention. Mentor and coach less experienced peers with the automation and operational tasks, analytical functions and processes, and technical expertise. Ensure designs, code and processes are optimized for performance, scalability, security, reliability and maintainability. Maintain compliance with lnovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement. Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within lnovalon's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position. Requirements
- 8+ Years of experience in a Senior Associate or similar role, including hands-on work with database-driven projects required
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong proficiency in SQL development using T-SQL or PL/SQL on SQL Server or Oracle.
- Advanced experience with SQL database tools and BI solutions, such as Power BI (preferred) or similar platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced), including use of Visual Basic and macros, as well as PowerPoint, Project, and SharePoint.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python and/or R (preferred).
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to understand the company's products and processes.
- Work under minimal supervision on multiple complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
- Professionally skilled in personal presentation, verbal, and written communication, excellent attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.
- Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- This is a primarily sedentary role. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear for extended periods of time, and also required to repetitively use manual labor to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
