Job Summary The Director of EHS Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, supporting corporate safety programs, and ensuring compliance throughout GAF. This position will direct the strategy and oversee the execution of safety and corporate EHS initiatives across all GAF. This individual will be responsible for the design, development and management of high quality and effective EHS learning solutions, training instruments and EHS curriculums. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Environment, Health and Safety and support other GAF and Standard Logistics EHS Staff. Essential Duties Establish organizational goals based on gap analysis, prioritize issues, develop projects to achieve goals and sustain compliance with government regulations. Serves as a key member of the EHS staff with responsibility for assisting in implementation of GAF safety and health strategies, policies, standards, compliance, and management initiatives. Evaluate effectiveness of initiatives through safety assessments and interpreting data to identify gaps. Develops and implements action plans as necessary to mitigate risks. Assists in the development of business goals and objectives. Work to foster an atmosphere of openness and information sharing in order to encourage a culture of high awareness, transparency and diligence with respect to safety and health matters. Develop training materials to support the organization's safety management systems. Promote employee awareness of safety requirements and hazard mitigation through training and continual communication with Leadership. Maintain and assist in the continued development of GAF Incident Management System, including the development of (monthly) performance reporting to provide visibility of safety progress, performance, and issues. Maintain, revise or develop enterprise standards for protection of employees' safety where the company operates. Direct the continued development, implementation, and management of appropriate tools, systems, monitoring, and reporting procedures. Lead compliance audits and assessments of operations to measure conformance to GAF policy and procedures and work closely with Leadership to identify corrective actions. Lead or participate in incident investigations as a team member and subject matter expert to identify root causes and effective corrective actions. Partners with Senior Leadership on potential acquisitions from the perspective of Safety & Compliance issues prior to the acquisition, all the way through integration. Assure that GAF Industrial Management System procedures are being followed regarding occupational health and safety matters. Mentor EHS professionals in safety and environmental matters. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Safety, Engineering, or a related degree field Required Post graduate degree Preferred 10 years EHS experience, 5 years management of others Required Ability to effectively adapt to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a positive attitude with a focus on client success. Exceptional interpersonal skills that are leveraged to build relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders. Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills including the ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions from employees, government agency representatives, and customers. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish trust and relationships. Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage multiple projects. Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office. Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
