The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences This position is located in Carteret Correctional Center Newport, NC. This is a minimum custody male facility. The Accounting Clerk I is responsible for maintaining financial records, processing fiscal transactions, and ensuring compliance with State of North Carolina accounting policies, Office of the State Controller regulations, and NCDAC fiscal procedures. This position requires accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work within a secure criminal justice environment. Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone. Ability to learn the use of special office equipment. Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations. Duties include but is not limited to: Maintaining inventory of office supplies and printer toner to ensure the facility remains operational Accessing NCFS, E-Procurement, and Oracle Fusion Warehouse to place and receive orders Maintaining and filing received E-Procurement orders Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences : Salary Range: $31,200-$53,812 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
