About the role

We are seeking an experienced and business-focused People Partner to join our People Team in Malaysia. This role serves as a trusted adviser to business leaders, driving the alignment of people strategies with business objectives while fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture. As a strategic partner to the Malaysia business, you will play a critical role in organizational effectiveness, talent management, workforce planning, employee relations, and the successful execution of people initiatives. You will work closely with leaders and People Centers of Excellence to ensure our people strategies support sustainable business growth and exceptional employee experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Partnership
  • Act as a trusted adviser to the leadership team in Malaysia, aligning business strategy with the People agenda.
  • Ensure alignment of the Malaysia business with the company's purpose, values, culture, and strategic goals.
  • Provide expert guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and business restructures.
  • Utilize people data, metrics, and analytics to identify trends, develop actionable insights, and measure the effectiveness of people initiatives.
  • Proactively advise leaders on organizational effectiveness, capability development, and talent-related opportunities and risks.
  • Partner with stakeholders to shape and continuously improve company-wide people programs based on business feedback and evolving needs.
  • People Strategy Execution
  • Lead and provide guidance on core People processes, including workforce planning, performance management, talent reviews, salary and grading processes, and succession planning.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of People practices across Malaysia and the broader region.
  • Collaborate with People Centers of Excellence and regional teams to deliver effective people solutions within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Drive effective communication, education, and adoption of People policies, processes, and programs across all stakeholder groups.
  • Talent Management & Employee Engagement
  • Partner with leaders to develop and execute capability growth plans that address skill gaps, future workforce needs, and career development opportunities.
  • Drive talent strategies focused on attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining top talent.
  • Support leaders in creating high-performing, inclusive teams and a strong employee value proposition.
  • Identify engagement trends and implement initiatives that enhance employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance
  • Manage and resolve employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary processes, workplace investigations, absence management, and conflict resolution.
  • Escalate complex cases when appropriate and partner with senior stakeholders to ensure balanced and compliant outcomes.
  • Stay current with Malaysian employment legislation and regulatory developments, translating changes into practical business guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, company policies, and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and communication of People policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Own relationships with local employee representatives and union stakeholders where applicable.
  • Support and lead complex employee consultation processes, including organizational change, redundancy, and union-related matters when required.
  • Leadership Coaching & People Development
  • Coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to leaders and managers at all levels to strengthen leadership effectiveness.
  • Support leaders in navigating organizational change and building high-performing teams.
  • Mentor and develop People Team colleagues, contributing to overall team capability and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead and support strategic People programs across Malaysia, the region, and People Centers of Excellence.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in a Senior HR Business Partner, People Partner, or equivalent strategic HR role.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence senior leaders and translate business strategy into people solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational design, workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, and change management.
  • Deep understanding of Malaysian employment law and HR best practices.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience leveraging people data and insights to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and dynamic environment.
  • Experience supporting technology, professional services, consulting, or similar knowledge-based organizations is advantageous.
