Job description: Develop and deliver Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions for corrugated paper‑product manufacturing machinery. The role involves creating intuitive operator screens, alarms, trends, recipes, and navigation structures that align with machine functionality and operational requirements, ensuring consistent and standard user‑friendly interfaces followed across systems. The position requires the ability to interpret electrical schematics and control system architectures, integrate automation platforms HMI testing, troubleshooting, validation, and remote technical support , working closely with the U.S. Controls team and support new product, in‑house developments, and customer‑site machinery while maintaining high standards of quality and usability.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and standardize HMI architectures and functional specifications in collaboration with machine SMEs, ensuring alignment with operational and standardization requirements.
- Develop and configure HMI applications to integrate with Beckhoff (TwinCAT) and Rockwell (Logix) PLC platforms, including reusable templates, functions and interface standards.
- Develop, maintain, and control HMI engineering and operator documentation, including functional descriptions, screen standards, alarm definitions, tag conventions, help screens, diagnostic aids, and version‑controlled configuration records.
- Research and stay current on HMI technologies, platforms, and industry best practices , supporting continuous improvement and standardization initiatives.
- Review and approve HMI hardware selection and procurement ensuring compliance with electrical panel layouts with mounting requirements, schematics, environmental conditions, project specifications and product lifecycle considerations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve HMI‑level issues and provide engineering recommendations to improve system reliability.
