About the role
The Assistant Manager, Finance will ensure accurate, timely, integrity and transparent financial transactions and information to support decision-making by management, the Board, and regulatory stakeholders. Critical Work Functions/Tasks Financial Management & Reporting Lead full-spectrum finance and accounting functions, including month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and compliance with Charities Accounting Standard (CAS) Prepare and review management accounts, financial analyses, cash flow forecasts, and statutory reports Coordinate external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit matters Finance Operations & Fund Management Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll-related finance transactions, cash management, and banking activities Ensure accurate and timely processing of payments, collections, reconciliations, grants, donations, and restricted funds Monitor fund utilisation and ensure compliance with donor, grant, and regulatory requirements Compliance & Controls Maintain effective internal controls, finance policies, SOPs, procurement governance, and approval frameworks Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, Charity Transparency Framework, Code of Governance, and organisational policies Support risk management initiatives, IPC renewal processes, and annual reporting requirements Budgeting, Planning & Business Partnering Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Work closely with the Finance Sub-Committee, Management, Sectors and Departments to monitor financial performance, review resource utilisation, and support strategic decision-making Provide financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to optimise resource allocation and organisational sustainability Systems, Process Improvement & Resource Management Act as the system owner for finance and related business systems, including system implementation, upgrades, user support and training, ensuring configurations align with accounting policies and operational requirements Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, reporting, controls, workflows and operational efficiency Establish and strengthen finance governance, policies, SOPs, approval frameworks and documentation Ensure prudent utilisation of financial and departmental resources Leadership, Stakeholder Management & Support Lead, develop and manage the Finance team, ensuring capability development, performance achievement and professional growth Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and support staff development in alignment with organisational goals Serve as the key liaison and secretariat to the Finance Sub-Committee, Management, Board, Sectors and Departments on finance-related matters Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations to support governance, oversight, and informed decision-making Escalate significant financial, compliance, audit and governance matters to the Head of Finance & Governance where appropriate Ensure that staff under care are growing professionally and achieving targets set for the year Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Management Education and Experience Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline At least 5 years of relevant finance experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity Experience in social services, public sector, or grant-funded environments is highly preferred Technical Skills and Competencies Experience in accounting software Strong in use of excel for analytics and PowerPoint for presentation Strong in internal control procedures Possess ability to apply critical thinking skills (observation, planning, analysis, review) to the workplace Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, when dealing with different stakeholders, including the Finance Sub-Committee and Management Committee members Generic Skills and Competencies Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills Ability to collaborate, build and maintain strong rela
