THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is in the Excepted Service under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA) This position is part of the IN USPFO, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number PD#T5135P01. IAW DoD 1300.26 you will have to complete the appropriate Financial Level certification designated by the position and/or supervisor.? Failure to do so may result in termination. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; OR Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing AND GENERAL EXPERIENCE: - Skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately; - Skill in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material; - Skill in presenting formal training presentations and briefings; - Ability to prepare reports and presentation formats. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience, knowledge, or training with application of professional accounting principles, analysis, theories, concepts, and practices to unique situations. This includes the ability to employ accounting policies/standards in the resolution of unprecedented problems and/or situations. Ability to use non-conventional methodologies. Experience or knowledge designing, adapting, or installing of automated accounting and understanding of characteristics and capabilities of accounting software. Experience or knowledge analyzing accounting systems or modify and adapt conventional accounting and analytical techniques to resolve a variety of accounting problems A candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the principles and concepts of the accounting business program requirements. A candidate must have accounting or audit experiences and training that demonstrates his or her abilities to lead, train subordinates, follow directions, read, retain, and comply with instructions, regulations, policies and procedures. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Must have at least 12 months of equivalent specialized experience to the next lower grade level.
