Laboratory Technician

Responsibilities

• Support the work of operational teams by ensuring Laboratory Support Service is completed to a high standard. Work positively and proactively within a team of technicians to ensure laboratory support work is performed in a timely manner.
• Laboratory glass washing, collection and redistribution
• Pipette management including collection, performance checks and return
• Stock checks and ordering of supplies
• Reagent preparation
• Equipment maintenance
• Record keeping and administrative duties
• Conduct analytical work using appropriate techniques and in accordance with regulatory standards (e.g. ISO 17025)
• Act in compliance with the site Health & Safety Policy
• Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-equipped work area, observing operational regulations

Requirements

• The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and behaviours:
• Effective time management, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard
• An enthusiastic and positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent attention to detail
• A collaborative team player, able to adapt to changing priorities and contribute ideas

• Educated to GCSE level, with 5 GCSEs graded A-C (or 9-4)
• Experience in a regulated laboratory environment is advantageous
• Sound computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office
