The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC), located in the heart of New York City, seeks a LVT Director of OR. This is a rare opportunity to join the world's largest veterinary teaching hospital and take your career to the next level. The LVT Director of OR is part of the hospital clinical service team who oversees operations and provides strategic leadership and provides organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Surgery department. The Director is responsible for process improvement activities and reporting of key performance indicators. List duties and responsibilities: Responsible for the clinical, operational and financial management of the surgery operating rooms, prep, & recovery Develops action plans and reports outcomes to the Senior LVT Director of Perioperative Services Budgetary or fiscal accountability and is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of units Partner with the hospital leadership team to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, staff development and career ladders ensure meeting of national standards and state regulatory requirements and give input to strategic decisions related to clinical nursing staff development. Have insight into day-to-day operations of the surgery department, including patient/LVT ratios and scheduling to improve flow of the surgery unit, patient care and the day-to-day operations Mentor and guide surgery LVT Managers, Team Leaders, and Lead Technicians to ensure excellence in hospitals' functionality Act as a liaison between clinical staff and Senior LVT Director of Perioperative Services Responsible for the overall supervision of OR staff, post anesthesia care unit, and Pre-Op/Ambulatory Care Oversees the unit's operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Operating Room Services and patient throughput including scheduling, operating room, surgical equipment, ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, pain management, PACU, OR, and central sterile processing, and other areas as applicable Performs responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies and procedures Commitment to excellent customer service Responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of OR, Recovery and other OR work rooms All other related projects and duties as assigned
