Service Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, measurements, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and overhauls of marine and industrial equipment.
• Conduct on-site service work at shipyards, vessels, customer premises, and industrial facilities.
• Prepare and submit service reports, inspection findings, and technical documentation after each assignment.
• Coordinate and schedule service jobs to ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Liaise with customers to understand service requirements and provide technical support where required.
• Coordinate with internal service teams and overseas stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Support warehouse operations, including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping.
• Participate in local and overseas assignments as required.
• Adhere to all workplace safety regulations and company procedures.
• Products Supported
• The role involves servicing and supporting a range of marine and industrial products, including:
• Couplings
• Propeller shafts and shafting systems
• Engine and machinery mounts
• Brakes
• Backstops
• Fluid couplings
• Related mechanical power transmission equipment

Requirements

• Experience in the marine, mechanical, industrial, or engineering sector is preferred.
• Exposure to diesel engines, marine gearboxes, propulsion systems, generators (gensets), or rotating equipment will be advantageous.
• Candidates with limited or no experience are welcome to apply as structured training will be provided.
• Technical Skills
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to read technical drawings and service manuals is advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is preferred.
• Other Requirements
• Possess a valid Singapore Class 3 Driving Licence (Manual).
• Able to work in shipyards, onboard vessels, industrial facilities, and outdoor environments.
• Willing to travel overseas on short notice when required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, hands-on, and able to work independently as well as in a team.

Vulkan Singapore is seeking a Service Technician to join our regional Service Team. This role is responsible for supporting inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities for marine and industrial power transmission systems across Singapore and the region. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, regional service teams, and our headquarters in Europe to ensure the timely and professional delivery of technical services. The position offers exposure to a wide range of marine and industrial applications and may require overseas travel on short notice.
