Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set
  • Drive innovation and R&D for emerging technologies (e.g., liquid cooling integration, advanced monitoring)

  • Perform engineering calculation (i.e. cooling load calculation, hydraulic calculation, etc.), equipment sizing (i.e. chiller, pump, cooling tower, air handler, heat exchanger systems) and selection and procurement of equipment ensuring it meets safety standards and performance requirements
  • Extensive experience of large-scale chilled water plant including chillers, chilled water distribution and storage systems, Liquid Cooling systems, cooling towers, and chemical dosing systems
  • Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and within our budgetary requirements.
  • Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment
  • Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with authority requirements, the various APAC wide design codes and other jurisdictional requirements
  • Review and approval of equipment submittals and ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases
  • Conduct engineering analysis, feasibility studies, and value engineering for cost and performance optimization
  • Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical systems
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for mechanical system issues
  • Update and maintain the internal design specifications, drawings, and standards in accordance with the latest configurations and including all 'lessons learned' in relation to all equipment
  • Travel to sites within Korea for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in n designing and maintaining mechanical systems for data centers, including 5+ years in mission-critical facilities
  • Knowledge of large-scale mission critical facility's Mechanical infrastructure systems
  • Experience in high-density AI/HPC workloads
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer certification is an advantage
  • Fundamental knowledge in of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles, fire protection and plumbing and sanitary system
  • In-depth knowledge of critical data center electrical systems, including:
  • Proven ability to research and implement new designs and technologies from concept through deployment
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and conducting factory acceptance tests.

Design and Construction Mechanical Engineer, Korea The Mechanical Engineer plays a critical role as the Mechanical Engineering System subject matter expert for the design and construction of both our greenfield, brownfield, colocation data centres in Korea region. His/her responsibilities include designing new data centres, reviewing designs from colocation operators with expertise in mechanical engineering to ensure that the mechanical system is capable to support high-density AI workloads. You will be involved in hands on design experience across the project lifecycle from concept design through construction, to commissioning and handover. You will be relied on as a subject matter expert in the mechanical engineering field. You will ensure sites operate at peak performance, meet uptime targets, and scale to support high-density AI workloads.
