Requirements: Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months. Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days. Company: Cobb Job Title: Brood House Worker Job Grade: 08 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Position reports to: Sr Supv Farm Disc vs Non-Disc: N Location: Tennessee Pedigree Complex, Deer Lodge, TN Schedule: (Sun-Wed), including holidays Hours: 6 :15am to 4:10pm - Start and end times may vary. The work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs. Position Summary: This position attends to and cares for the birds in the Brood house. Other duties may also be assigned based on business needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These feed and water birds according to schedules (30%) These walk floors daily; examine birds for signs of illness and treats according to instructions; pick up and dispose of mortality (20%) These place pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds according to line and age of source (20%) These clean and disinfects waterers, pens, and performs routine housekeeping duties; repairs pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc.) (10%) These record information according to instructions such genealogy, bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality (10%) Other Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities: These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: Maintain and assist with housekeeping standards in the working areas; inspect birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitation of storage areas, breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles, cleaning incinerators; moving birds, grounds-keeping and organizing breeder tags; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%) Biosecurity/ Safety/ Animal Welfare Requirements: The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the job site except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. Physical Demands and Work Environment: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and will occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at times or push/pull wheeled skids of supplies up to 1000 pounds . While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for the majority of the shift on a concrete floor; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; climbing/ladder usage, talk or hear; and drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
