Senior Software Developer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software solutions supporting the IRS Enterprise Data Platform modernization initiative
• Implement secure integrations with IRS and enterprise systems utilizing cloud-native services, data pipelines, messaging frameworks, and API-driven architectures
• Develop and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and integration services supporting structured, semi-structured, and streaming data workloads
• Design and implement real-time and near-real-time data exchange solutions using event-driven architectures
• Support modernization of legacy and mainframe-based systems through secure integration and migration strategies
• Develop secure APIs and microservices enabling enterprise access to IRS data assets and business services
• Collaborate with cloud engineers, data architects, cybersecurity specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable integration solutions
• Implement secure coding practices and integrate security controls throughout the software development lifecycle
• Support cloud-native data analytics and reporting platforms utilizing AWS-based services
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical design sessions, code reviews, and modernization planning activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration, performance, and scalability issues
• Develop technical documentation, interface specifications, deployment procedures, and operational support materials
• Support Agile development processes and DevSecOps delivery pipelines
• Qualifications And Education Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
• Minimum of eight (8) years of software development experience supporting enterprise-scale applications and integration platforms
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience developing cloud-native applications and integration solutions
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems and microservices architectures
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages:
• Java
• Python
• Scala
• C#
• JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with enterprise integration patterns and event-driven architectures
• Experience developing secure APIs and service-oriented solutions
• Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL database technologies
• Must be able to pass a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) check
• Must live in the United States and be authorized to work in the United States
• Preferred Skills
• Experience supporting IRS, Treasury, or other federal civilian agency modernization programs
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data platforms, data lakes, or analytics environments
• Experience integrating cloud and mainframe systems
• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity requirements and secure software development practices

Brief Description Senior Software Developer Remote Grant Leading Technology is seeking a candidate for Senior Software Developer to join our dynamic team. The candidate will support the modernization and expansion of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Enterprise Data Platform (EDP). This position will lead the design, development, and implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient integration solutions that enable enterprise-wide access to critical tax administration data and services. The successful candidate will develop cloud-native integration frameworks, real-time data streaming solutions, API services, and modernization capabilities that connect IRS legacy systems, enterprise applications, cloud-based analytics platforms, and approved external data providers. This role requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, event-driven integration patterns, data movement technologies, and secure software development practices within a highly regulated federal environment. This position will be remote, and the hours are 8 am to 5 pm EST.
