Amazon is looking for a Senior Business Manager to join the AWS Safety, Security, and Environmental team. This team is responsible for building the foundation for the world's innovation by creating the most safe, secure, and environmentally compliant working environments, which enables our Data Center Community (DCC) to support our customers. We accomplish this by implementing consistent safety, environmental, and security controls, methods, and metrics in all DCC spaces to eliminate risk. We foster a self-driven culture of exhibiting high standards and inclusion among our teams and stakeholders. Where possible, we automate processes to protect builders, customers, and assets. As the Senior Business Manager, you will own and drive the execution of resource management and planning for the division, partnering with leadership to translate near and long-term vision into actionable plans that align with broader DCC strategic planning. You will exercise deep expertise on all processes, variables, and tooling that impact Resource Planning. This includes (1) CAPEX and OPEX management; (2) the various infrastructure drivers and metrics that impact headcount scaling; and (3) tooling that enables continuous audit to ensure parity between resourcing supply and demand. Further, you will own and drive the key inputs that affect divisional hiring performance and productivity, developing and maintaining metrics that enable performance measurement in these areas. The Business Manager must earn trust with partner teams such as Finance and multiple deployment teams in order to expand mechanisms and strategies beyond the division and ensure the full scope of needs are captured on behalf of the division. In addition, as a key representative of the division, the Senior Business Manager must effectively interact with and earn trust from partners external to the sub-division, and in some cases, external to AWS. Such interactions may include arranging and facilitating off-site events with senior executives to advance global initiatives, coordinating business activities with partners in Talent Acquisition and Human Resources. The ideal candidates will have excellent analytical abilities, outstanding business acumen and judgment, intense curiosity, and superior written and verbal communication skills. They will have a strong bias toward data driven decision making. They will be a self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity; able to think big and be creative, while exercising strong judgment and good instincts to be right a lot. The ideal candidate is motivated by delivering high-quality analyses and recommendations that change the operational business direction within timeframes that most think are impossible. Key job responsibilities - You are a key contributor to the strategic direction for Data Center Safety, Security, and Environmental team. You influence strategy by diving deep with supporting business verticals, synthesizing insights, and bringing informed recommendations to leadership. You work with leaders to craft measurable goals that execute on this strategy, implement monthly tracking mechanisms, and ensure clear reporting on the most critical goals. - You own defining business requirements and level of effort for resource planning across the organization, including CAPEX and headcount needs. You partner with Finance to translate requirements into funded plans, advocate for adequate resourcing, and review plans with leadership to ensure business needs are accurately captured and defended. - You develop divisional hiring targets incorporating expected attrition and pending starts, analyze actual hiring activity against these targets monthly, facilitate leadership's active management of hiring performance, and produce associated weekly and monthly reports. - You develop quarterly analyses and recommendations on employee productivity, including inputs/metrics that influence productivity, performance against those metrics, and recommendations to ensure the division meets productivity goals.
