About the role

The Core Payments team has been instrumental in Roku's exponential growth in online subscriptions, achieved through an in-streaming, on-TV purchase experience. Core Payments supports various teams across Roku; spanning multiple consumer interfaces, including TV, web, mobile, and advertising. These diverse teams have developed unique strategies for selling digital content access, encompassing Subscription Video on Demand/Transactional Video on Demand (SVOD/TVOD), company-branded devices, and on-device shoppable ads. Roku is seeking a Senior Payments Strategy Manager to own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of our global payment platform, enabling reliable, cost-efficient payment capabilities for millions of subscribers worldwide. In this role, you will lead initiatives that drive subscription acquisition, conversion, retention, and revenue optimization across the payments ecosystem. You will shape the evolution of payment experiences while building and refining optimization systems that improve authorization performance and renewal recovery. This position requires deep collaboration with Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Legal, Risk, and external payment providers to deliver measurable outcomes. You will manage end-to-end relationships with external payment partners, including commercial alignment, integrations, and performance reviews. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of product leadership, payments domain expertise, and data-driven decision-making to accelerate platform growth. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence how Roku monetizes and scales its subscription business globally. For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $176,163 - $250,700 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. Responsibilities

  • Leading the full product lifecycle of the Payments Platform, from strategy and roadmap development to execution and launch
  • Driving optimization initiatives across authorization strategy, intelligent routing, retry and dunning programs, tokenization, and account updater capabilities
  • Managing external payment partner relationships end-to-end, including commercial negotiations, technical integrations, and ongoing performance reviews
  • Supporting global expansion by enabling new payment methods, entering international markets, and addressing regulatory requirements
  • Partnering with Data Science to build experimentation frameworks, define KPIs, and run A/B tests that inform platform decisions
  • Ensuring platform resiliency, financial integrity, and operational excellence across the payments ecosystem
  • Presenting roadmap priorities, strategic tradeoffs, and business outcomes to senior leadership
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce payment failures, lower Payments cost of goods sold, and improve first-payment success rates
  • We're excited if you have
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management focused on payments, billing, or subscription commerce at scale
  • Deep knowledge of payment gateways, processors, tokenization, digital wallets, recurring billing, and fraud and risk controls
  • Understanding of payment orchestration concepts including intelligent routing, processor performance analysis, and modern API-driven architectures
  • Experience managing global payment systems across multiple currencies and regulatory environments
  • Strong analytical skills including A/B testing, KPI development, and funnel optimization
  • Proven ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders, with strong executive communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • Expertise in passive churn reduction and subscription lifecycle optimization
  • Familiarity with payment economics, including interchange optimization and cost management
  • Experience with diverse commerce surfaces such as marketplaces, hard
