Post End Date: July 2, 2026 at 11:59 PM This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the Part-Time Contract Positions (Employee Group) *****THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED OUT OF BURLINGTON CAMPUS***** Human Rights and Equity Office - Peer Education Assistan t (Burlington) Anticipated start date: August 31 , 2026 Contract end date: April 30 , 2027 Part-time, student position Number of positions available: 1 Hourly Rate: $1 7.20 / hr Post End Date: July 2, 2026 Joining the Human Rights and Equity Office The Human Rights and Equity (HRE) Office at Brock University is a resource for all Brock community members, which includes students, staff, and faculty. HRE addresses human rights, harassment, and discrimination that is connected to the Ontario Human Rights Code. For more information about the HRE office, applicants are encouraged to review the HRE website . HRE sees great value in the peer-to-peer leadership model and student advocacy, as student -led leadership creates a more inclusive, safer campus for everyone. With the opening of Burlington Campus, HRE is seeking (1) peer assistant to join our team to empower students at Burlington Campus to become agents of positive change within their communities and beyond. The HRE Burlington Peer Assistant will provide resources, referrals, and opportunities to gather with students committed to the principles of equity and human rights. Peer assistants will be offered a 35-week contract of 8-10 hrs/week from August 202 6 through April 202 7 at Brock University's Burlington Campus. Successful candidates are expected to be available for in-person program delivery (workshops , drop-ins and events) at the Burlington campus with occasional travel to St. Catharines campus . Some evenings and weekends will be required . T eam members will report to and work daily with their supervisor, the Associate Director, EDI Education and Outreach . Duties & Responsibilities: All team members will be involved in the following areas of work: General HRE Education and Event Planning Support the development and facilitation of general HRE and EDI workshops to increase awareness of Human Rights & Equity and available supports and resources at Brock. Provide in person or online support for an array of prominent HRE events, programs and workshops (e.g., International Women's Day, Black Student Symposium, Pride events, December 6) to ensure smooth operations and address any issues that arise. Coordinate room bookings, equipment rentals, and other necessary arrangements for events and workshops. Engage in ongoing reading and learning on relevant issues related to Human Rights & Equity and share this learning with the EDI Manager to suggest and co-create new resources for the Brock. Outreach and Engagement: Tabling for HRE - Engage in information sharing at Brock throughout the year including greeting students, distributing education and awareness materials, and answering questions Liaising and collaborating with campus and community partners and underrepresented student groups to create connections, partner on programs and initiatives, and affirm communities. Assist in drafting and distributing program materials, including flyers, newsletters, and social media posts. Monitor the HRE Days of Significance calendar and develop and repost social media content. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support for meetings and events, including preparation and setup for meetings and taking minutes during meetings to support documentation of discussions and decisions. Support the financial administration of HRE events and workshops through the processing of expense reports, invoices and receipts. Utilize data management tools to track program and event metrics and outcomes. Conduct Research on Social Justice Issues and Best Practices: Stay informed on social justice issues and current events, including through academic research and community engagement.
