We are looking for a Senior Manager, Field Quality to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to Head of Quality and Reliability and based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week. As a Senior Manager, Field Quality, you will be leading the team responsible for ensuring our energy production platforms are designed, installed and commissioned on time, on schedule, on budget while meeting all established Quality, Reliability, Safety and Serviceability requirements. Role and Responsibilities Lead the effort to drive back all quality escapes from factory, suppliers and Bloom contractors, or GC's that are making it to field installations. Partner with other groups in the company like Supplier Quality, Factory Quality/Manufacturing, CIG, Safety, PD, Field Service, etc. to ensure each function takes ownership of their escapes, and puts in corrective actions to ensure mitigation and resolution to the root cause to prevent repetition. Be the single voice reporting the field hours that are "not planned", and measured on the Bloom corporate dashboard. Report achievement to the target with explanations for any deviations to the plan, and provide predictions for upcoming month/quarter. Drive reduction to the unplanned hours through the reporting, and visibility, and lessons learned meetings. Lead the Lessons Learned for the Field quality improvement. Run the Field quality monthly meeting update to the other functional groups, reporting current status, top pareto in each category, and including actions for improvement. Manage the field quality team for prioritization of work, and alignment to the functional direction from their manager. Report critical incidents on sites up through the management chain on a daily basis. Ensure the staff reports activities on critical sites daily in a short email update. Work with Field Service to ensure timely reporting of incidents, and part replacements on site. Daily updating is needed to ensure quick response to emerging issues. Audit and support site construction and Bloom Energy product installations to design requirements ensuring on-time commencement of operations of a safe and reliable site Gate Bloom Energy and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner projects from proceeding to Service product commissioning phase by inspecting site construction and product installations and confirming design intent is met or exceeded Document, track and drive resolution of cross functional and external EPC process deficiencies from site design through to commencement of operations Regularly perform safety and environmental audits of sites across all stages of construction, installation and commissioning Establish expectation of 8D problem solving methodology with internal and external process owners to ensure that emerging critical quality, safety, reliability and serviceability are quickly contained followed by effective analysis of root cause(s) and implementation of short and long term corrective measures Rapid response to Early Life Failures (ELF) in the field for construction, installation and product manufacturing issues utilizing aforementioned 8D process Support Field Replacement Unit (FRU) exchanges and product upgrade activities at operational sites with Field Service and Operations organizations Focus on continuous improvement, value-added engineering and cost reduction through observation and collected data of Bloom Energy and EPC performance to key objectives and performance metrics Education, Skills and Experience: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or related field or 15 years relevant work experience.
