Position Summary: Shift Electrician position is made up of numerous classes, based upon experience and knowledge. One can advance upward as knowledge of both machinery and electrical grows. All advancement will be merit driven. Each classification below will take into account the applicant's current work history and experience level. Class D Education - Completion of basic courses in AC/DC circuits, electrical schematic reading, technical math, basic programmable logic controllers. Experience : Minimum of 1-1/2 years of experience within an industrial maintenance/repair environment. Skills - Must be able to demonstrate basic troubleshooting and repair abilities with minimal assistance. Be able to use or demonstrate proficiency in the following: basic hand / power tools, general shop equipment (drill press, band saw), volt-ohm meter, basic computer skills. Have a basic understanding of safety regulations - confined space, lockout/tagout, fall prevention, electrical safety. Be able to describe the hazards of working with energized equipment. Be able to use or demonstrate proficiency in the following: Oscilloscope, ammeters , megger, conduit bender, pipe threader , tap /d ies , perform conversions and calculations. Be able to discuss requirements for grounding. Must be able to use computers, technic al manuals, and schematics/drawings to determine correct repair parts and locate in parts system. Class C - In addition to the above Class D requirements: Education - Completio n of courses in variab l e speed drive s, electric motor controls, tech physic s, national electric code. Experience: 1 year as Class D electrician (2-1/2 total years in Cerro employment or equivalent experience in similar industrial environment). Ski ll s - Must be able to demonstrate troubleshooting and repair abilities wi th little or no assistance. Be able to use or demonstrate proficiency in the following: Calculate loads and determine appropriate protection, conductors, and overloads, lay out conduit and panels, align motors with dial indicator or la se r al i gnment set, and troubleshoot PLC 's using appropriate software (RSLogix 5 , 500, 5000 and Automation Direct Productivity Series ) Class B - In addition to the above Class C requirements: Education - Completion of courses in fluid power principl es , industrial and commercial wiring, ba sic welding. Experience - 1 year as Class C electrician (3-1/2 total years in Cerro employment or equivalent experience in similar industrial environment). Skills - Mu s t be able to demon s trate troubleshooting and repair abilities with no assistance and be able to assist electricians in lower grades. Be able to use or demonstrate proficienc y in the following: perform trending and drive analysis using appropriate software, perform basic program modifications. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic a nd pneumatic systems. Be able to document m od ific a tions / changes to dr aw ings (redline). Must be able to successfully pass a basic welding exam. Class A - In addition to the above Class B requirements: Education - Continued growth will be offered and as technologies change, should be expected. Experience - 1 year as Class B electrician (4-1/2 total years in Cerro employment or equivalent experience in similar industrial environment). Skills - B e able to trouble s hoot and rep a ir complex problems and instruct other electricians in lower gra d es. Anal yze electronic circuits and be able to explain their purpose and function. Troubleshoot programming and network problems. Be able to document troubleshooting progress and write report s. Mu st be able to use computer and basic office software. Lead Electrician - In addition to the above Class A requirements: Experience - 1 year as Class A electrician (5-1/2 total years in Cerro employment or equivalent experience in similar industrial environment). Supervise and assist other electricians or General Maintenance personnel if required. Oversees and delegates all electrical inspections and infrared thermography. Assists Maintenance Manager in finding suitable replacement electrical components, when required. Acts as goodwill ambassador between Maintenance and Production maintaining a positive and professional working attitude. Warns management of upcoming issues or concerns when safety or production may be adversely affected. Must be both proactive and reactive. Must be able to perform duties under duress and maintain a professional attitude at all times. Duties include training new personnel when required. Must be able to assess those
