Job Description: We have a new vacancy for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to be based primarily at our site in Shipley, Bradford with the ability to travel to other CMb sites as and when required. About CMbE CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMbE) designs, develops, and manufactures high-performance metal forming and finishing machinery for the production of beverage, food, and aerosol cans. Your mission in CMbE Reporting to the CI & Manufacturing Engineer Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will aim to develop and improve processes throughout the operational areas, with typical responsibilities including designing of new equipment, processes, procedures and systems, purchasing and overseeing equipment installation. They will work cross functionally in manufacturing and assembly areas, and engage with other teams as per project requirements, i.e. CI, maintenance and production engineering. The successful candidate will lead, support, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, setting and reviewing objectives aligned with operational goals. They will design and implement new systems, equipment, and processes to support product introduction, working cross-functionally to ensure requirements are met from concept through to full production. The role includes supporting DfM/DfA activities, leading equipment reviews and tenders, liaising with suppliers and customers, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across operations. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain PFMEA, manage budgets and performance data in collaboration with finance, and work closely with R&D to ensure products are ready for manufacture. The role also involves developing automated and manual systems, testing processes, and championing change management, while consistently promoting SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) and improving efficiency, quality, and speed. About you Candidates must hold, as a minimum, a degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer or in a similar engineering role and will possess proven project management skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and be able to demonstrate a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Proficiency in CAD, including both 2D and 3D systems, ideally AutoCAD and Siemens NX, is required. Formal training in Six Sigma would be advantageous, although not essential. The successful candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in discrete part manufacture and assembly. Knowledge of can making equipment is advantageous but not essential.
