Technical Consultant & Premium Support Engineer (Linux for SAP) Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled individual for a unique hybrid role that bridges strategic consulting with dedicated premium customer support in South Korea. As a Technical Consultant & Premium Support Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to our enterprise customers, specifically leading the high-profile strategic migration from VMware vSphere to SUSE KVM virtualization to run mission-critical production SAP HANA and application workloads. You will not only design, deploy, and validate advanced Linux and open-source virtualization solutions but also provide expert, day-to-day high-touch support within customized customer environments. This is an individual contributor role that requires a balance of deep technical capability, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to seamlessly handle both proactive architectural project delivery and reactive, critical issue resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Consulting & Solution Design
  • Act as an on-site expert in identifying customer requirements, designing solution architecture, defining configuration, and deploying SUSE KVM and Linux solutions.
  • Lead the Technical Design Document (TDD) revisions and define step-by-step methodologies to validate hypervisor codebase against strict SAP validation criteria.
  • Drive hardware and hypervisor validation plans for next-generation server architectures. For example, Intel Granite Rapids (GNR) 2-Socket and 4-Socket servers for production SAP HANA and application workloads.
  • Architect and implement advanced virtualization enablement including VM Live Migration, KVM Libvirt management layer configurations, and high-speed Fibre Channel (FC) SAN block storage mapping.
  • Design and execute migration Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) to transition Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for SAP virtual machines from VMware vSphere to SLES for SAP Applications on SUSE KVM.
  • Create Consulting work packages, Statements-Of-Work (SOW), and assist with technical documentation to support infrastructure build-out.
  • Provide advice and enablement to consulting partners and collaborate with approved technical partners on co-delivered enterprise solutions.
  • Premium Support & Customer Advocacy
  • Provide full-time, day-to-day local support and serve as the dedicated technical contact and escalation point for the customer's customized environment.
  • Become an expert in your customers' business processes and configuration standards to diagnose and resolve environment-specific issues quickly under active database load.
  • Validate and troubleshoot critical Libvirt failover scenarios and KVM Host High Availability (HA) clusters using heartbeat-based cluster membership (Corosync/Pacemaker).
  • Implement and maintain robust STONITH (fencing) mechanisms utilizing physical power-off (IPMI/iLO/iDRAC) or STONITH Block Devices (SBD) paired with hardware watchdogs to prevent split-brain scenarios and dual-writer risks.
  • Advise customers regarding the proactive maintenance, health checks, lifecycle patching, and deployment of SUSE software.
  • Serve as a customer advocate by facilitating a fast-track escalation path to ensure continuous operational runtime.
  • Pro-actively share knowledge by writing technical runbooks, operational guides, and distributing helpful technical information (patches, security news) to customers.

  • Technical Expertise
  • Proven technical skills in designing and delivering enterprise-level solutions in Enterprise Linux and native Linux kernel-level virtualization.
  • Deep product expertise in SUSE KVM hypervisor (QEMU, libvirt), SLES, SLES for SAP Applications, and SLES High Availability Extension (SLE-HAE).
  • Familiarity with OpenStack APIs, cloud orchestrators , and software-defined networking.
  • Hands-on experience with migration tooling such as virt-v2v, qemu-img convert, SAP HANA System Replication (HSR), or third-party automated replication tools.
  • Familiarity with SUSE Multi-Linux Manager (formerly SUSE Manager) for lifecycle management, Trento for SAP configuration compliance auditing, and SES/Ceph or K8S/CaaS is highly preferred.
