Responsibilities
- Inspects, monitors, and oversees construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, interprets, and confirms compliance with applicable contract documents.
- Performs or oversees on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities). Responsible for tracking of item quantities and preparing pay estimates, and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
- Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
- Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
- Mentors and trains staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years relevant experience, or
- Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years relevant experience, or
- Doctorate degree in Engineering and 2 years relevant experience.
- Identifies complex discrepancies or conflicts within documents and takes appropriate action to resolve issues.
- Performs advanced calculations, develops plots and graphs using Excel, and drafts detailed reports for project progress reporting to the client.
- Provides direction on projects to less experienced staff.
- Performs advanced shop drawing and submittal review as well as advanced CPM schedule analysis.
- What We Prefer:
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or American Concrete Institute (ACI.)
- OSHA 30 certified preferred.
- Agency safety training certified.
- Trained in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite or similar preferred
