About the role

The Elevator Pitch We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to help shape the architecture and technical direction of next generation sensor platforms. This is a high impact individual contributor role focused on system level design, technical investigations, and hands-on execution, with a strong emphasis on moving early stage concepts into production ready systems. As part of a small, highly collaborative engineering organization, you will work closely with other senior engineers to define system architectures, lead tradeoff analyses, and drive critical technical decisions. You will remain deeply hands-on in design, validation, and bring-up while helping elevate technical rigor across the team. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of analog, highspeed digital, mixed signal, and system integration, and who enjoys solving ambiguous problems by turning constraints into clear, robust designs What Success Looks Like: Within the first 12 months, this role will be successful if you: Lead a lower cost sensor platform from concept through system definition and into a validated architecture that meets performance, cost, and reliability requirements Establish clear architectural tradeoffs and technical direction across EE, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing Raise the technical bar through strong design ownership, reviews, and mentorship Proactively identify risk areas and close them through analysis, prototyping, and validation Key Responsibilities System Architecture & Technical Leadership Own system level electrical architecture for sensor platforms, including power, signal integrity, interfaces, grounding, and integration across subsystems Lead technical investigations into new technologies, components, and architectures, including cost/performance tradeoff analyses Drive clear, data backed architectural decisions and align cross functional teams around them Serve as the final technical authority for critical design decisions and reviews HandsOn Design & Execution Actively design and review schematics, layouts, and system interfaces Lead prototype bringup, debugging, and validation in the lab Define and execute test strategies to validate performance, robustness, and reliability Support design for manufacturability, testability, and long-term support Cross Functional Influence Provide technical leadership across EE, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory Push back constructively on scope, schedule, and cost when technical risk warrants it Translate system level requirements into actionable electrical designs Work closely with leadership to balance near term execution with longer term technology direction Mentorship & Standards Set technical expectations and best practices across the EE team Mentor senior and midlevel engineers through architecture discussions, reviews, and problem solving Drive consistency in design rigor, documentation, and validation approaches Required Qualifications Deep experience in highspeed digital, analog, mixed signal, and system level design Proven ability to own and deliver system architecture, not just components Handson experience taking products from concept through certification and production Strong background in tradeoff analysis across performance, cost, risk, and schedule Demonstrated success debugging complex, cross disciplinary system issues Comfort operating as a technical authority and influencing without formal management responsibility Preferred Experience System integration involving cables, grounding, shielding, and real world environments EMC/EMI, safety, and regulatory compliance Bringing down cost or complexity in system architectures Small or midsize company environments where roles are broad and impact is high Why This Role Matters: This role plays a critical part in shaping the future of our sensor platforms. You'll have the opportunity to define architectures, influence product direction, and see designs through from first sketch to deployed system - while working closely with a tightknit team that values strong engineering judgment and execution. Compensation and Transparency Statement The base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000-$240,000. In addition to base salary, this role offers a competitive target bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. This range reflects our commitment to pay transparency and equity, in alignment with applicable state laws. Our compensation ranges are determined based on factors such as role, level, location, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
