Responsibilities

  • Safely load railcars with molten asphalt and other bulk commodities in accordance with operational procedures
  • Follow daily work instructions and comply with all safety requirements and protocols
  • Prepare rail equipment for maintenance activities, issue work permits, and perform spot checks to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Complete all required training and ensure assigned training hours are met
  • Act as First Responder during emergency situations, providing immediate and appropriate response
  • Comply with all Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) standards and ISO 9001 requirements in the performance of job responsibilities

Requirements

  • Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate
  • Valid Forklift Ticket considered an asset
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an industrial environment
  • Skilled in Industrial Railway Locomotive and Railcar Mover operations
  • Proficient in operating rail-loading equipment
  • Previous experience in refinery or related industrial settings
  • Extensive experience working around railcars, tracks, and switches
  • We acknowledge the value of transferable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
  • As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
  • For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.

Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 06/18/2026 About this opportunity: Under the direction of the Backup Day Shift Supervisor, the Seasonal Relief Operator - Rail will assist in the safe operation of the Rail-Loading operating area. This includes operation of all types of equipment, pumps, valves, and control panel consoles. Additionally, the Summer Relief is responsible for documentation of daily activities. This successful individual will work with other Offsites personnel and various LR Departments when needed, as well as the CN and CP Train Master. Work Environment: Candidates must have the ability to work various hours (day shifts only). Work schedule to be determined. Overtime as required based on business needs and schedules. This position is based out of our Lloydminster Refinery facility and would require the successful candidate to reside/relocate to the area. The applicant will be required to work in a wide variety of conditions due to the nature of the operation (working at heights, in confined spaces, with noise, in extreme weather. conditions, toxic environments, etc.). This is a unionized role (UNIFOR).
