You'll help us make health happen by: The Lead Anaesthetic Practitioner in Angiography is a pivotal leadership role within our growing Cardiac Services. You'll work in partnership with the Head of Cardiac Services to help shape performance frameworks, develop meaningful KPIs, and drive progress against service goals and improvement milestones. You'll shape and deliver high standards of operational practice, support the continued development of the angiography service, and bring expert clinical knowledge across a broad range of cardiac, radiology, and vascular anaesthetic procedures. From induction through to maintenance and recovery, you'll help create a safe, responsive, and patient-centred environment where excellence is the standard. You'll work closely with and foster strong professional relationship with Theatres, Lead Specialist Nurse in Angiography, the Lead Clinical Cardiac Physiologist for Invasive Diagnostics and Therapies, the Superintendent Radiographer in Angiography, and the scheduling team, to maximise capacity, and ensure the service runs smoothly and efficiently. Additional responsibilities: Provide visible leadership across anaesthetic and sedation practice, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care throughout the entire patient pathway (pre, intra, and post-procedure. Maintain advanced clinical expertise in cardiac, angiography, and interventional procedures, delivering safe anaesthesia, monitoring, and recovery care using specialist equipment. Ensure patient safety, governance, and clinical excellence, including audits, incident reporting, and adherence to best practice in anaesthesia and sedation. Support and coordinate day-to-day service delivery, ensuring efficient patient flow, smooth procedures, and high standards of admission and discharge processes. Oversee staffing levels, rota planning, and resource allocation, ensuring safe staffing and continuity of service delivery. Lead or contribute to strategic projects, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service performance and patient outcomes. Work closely with consultants and senior leads (nursing, physiologists, radiographers) to deliver a coordinated, high-performing cardiac service. Promote a learning culture by mentoring, coaching, and developing staff, and contributing to education programmes across the service. Provide performance management, feedback, recruitment, and team development, building a high-performing and engaged workforce. Operate within regulatory frameworks (NMC/HCPC, CQC, governance standards), maintaining accountability, professionalism, and ethical practice at all times. Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: Relevant post-qualification clinical experience (essential Specialist knowledge gained in a Cath Lab environment (essential) Experience of advanced specialist procedures through accredited training (essential) Able to perform specialist diagnostic investigations in varied clinical settings (essential) Experience supervising staff day to day (essential) Experience leading audits, research, or equipment trials (essential)
