The Facility Engineer is responsible for operation of all infrastructure equipment to allow the facility site to conduct business in a safe and efficient manner on a daily basis. Ensures continuous operation and preventative maintenance on HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, Medical Gas Systems, emergency generators, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems are accomplished. A Brief Overview The Facility Engineer is responsible for operation of all infrastructure equipment to allow the facility site to conduct business in a safe and efficient manner on a daily basis. Ensures continuous operation and preventative maintenance on HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, Medical Gas Systems, emergency generators, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems are accomplished. Accountable for investigating and addressing failures and/or interruptions, timely to restore operations. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will do Performs and oversees work orders for preventative maintenance, life safety testing and repairs on building systems including, but not limited to HVAC, pneumatic systems, chillers, generators, pumps, lift stations, medical gas systems, nurse call systems, compressors and refrigeration systems/devices. Assists O&M mechanics with repairs/requests. Ensures safe and continuous operation facility infrastructure equipment, including Fire Alarm/monitoring systems, back-up power generators and Automatic Transfer Switches. Documents testing and maintenance as required by code. Receives work requests and responds to and diagnoses trouble calls; dispatches to appropriate discipline. Repairs, adjusts and calibrates all facility infrastructure equipment, utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to initiate, track and document work completed. Serves as guide to sub-contractors that perform various jobs on site such as plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, generator repairs/PMs, chiller repairs/PMs, HVAC repairs/PMs and Life Safety testing according to code requirements. Understands and trains other Facilities Services Associates on the Environment of Care Utility Manual for the assigned Hospital. Performs other job functions as assigned or requested. Education/Formal Training Requirements Required - High School Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience Requirements Required - Operational/maintenance high-pressure steam plant environment 5-7 years Licenses and Certifications Requirements Required - First-Class Steam Operating Engineer - Shelby County Required - EPA Universal Certification - Environmental Protection Agency Required - First-Class Refrigeration Engineer - Shelby County Required - Class D Driver License -Tennessee - Tennessee Motor Vehicle Preferred - First Class Proficiency Contractors License - Shelby County Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge in system operations, including emergency procedures and in electrical, electronics, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, computerized monitoring and control systems, and other specialized equipment or control systems common to plant operations. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to document test results and work completed to ensure code compliance, using MS Office formatted document. Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment. Ability to organize and maintain control of workflow for work activities from shift to shift. Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job, except that the incumbent may occasionally assign duties or demonstrate various job responsibilities to other Associates. Physical Demands Exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Occasional travel outside hospital.
