About the role
The African Leadership University is currently hiring facilitators for its in-person Self-Directed Learning Skills Lab. This includes awareness of academic integrity, responsible AI use, appropriate student guidance on AI-supported learning, and the ability to help students use AI tools in ways that strengthen rather than replace their thinking, research, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Create and update engaging self-directed learning activities, lesson plans, student-facing materials, self-work tasks, deliverables, and entrepreneurial learning content connected to ALU's 14 Global Challenges and Opportunities.
- Ensure that SDL learning experiences are coherent, practical, outcomes-aligned, and responsive to the needs of Year 1 students.
- Work closely with Foundational Learning Coaches and Specialisation Coaches to identify students' learning needs, gaps in self-directed learning skills, and opportunities to improve programme delivery.
- Support the implementation, adoption, and effective use of Canvas LMS for SDL students, including course organisation, content migration, learning materials, assignments, feedback processes, and basic learning analytics.
- Apply knowledge of Canvas and at least one other learning management system, such as Moodle, Blackboard, Google Classroom or a similar platform.
- Use relevant online learning tools and education technology products to support facilitation, assessment, collaboration, student engagement, feedback, analytics, and digital learning.
- Use G Suite/Google Workspace tools, including Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Google Meet, to design materials, collect feedback, coordinate workflows, manage schedules, track student progress, and produce reports.
- Review and modify learning materials, assessments, rubrics, student instructions, and other programme components to ensure alignment with internal quality assurance requirements.
- Develop analytical reports on SDL Lab performance using student feedback, Canvas analytics, attendance data, assessment performance, participation trends, and facilitator observations.
