Responsibilities
- Fusion Operations
- Set up, operate, and maintain fusion equipment including McElroy, Georg Fischer, and other approved fusion machines
- Perform fusion work in accordance with ASTM, CSA, PPI, and manufacturer specifications
- Operate fusion equipment on pipe sizes ranging from small diameter up to large diameter (½" to 65")
- Prepare pipe and fittings by cutting, facing, scraping, cleaning, and aligning to ensure fusion quality
- Verify pipe size, SDR/DR, lot numbers, and fusion parameters prior to each joint
- Conduct visual inspections of fusion joints to confirm bead formation, alignment, and integrity
- Complete fusion logs, QA/QC documentation, and required project records
- Quality Control and Standards
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds customer, project, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain full traceability for fusion joints including operator ID, equipment used, and environmental conditions
- Identify and reject damaged or non-conforming pipe and fittings
- Participate in testing activities when required
- Equipment, Vehicles, and Maintenance
- Inspect, clean, calibrate, and maintain fusion machines, heater plates, trimmers, and related tools
- Maintain fusion equipment, vehicles, and trailers in safe working order
- Assist in warehouse operations including loading, unloading, and material handling as required
- Safety and Compliance
- Follow all OHSA, company safety procedures, and site-specific safety rules
- Comply with confined space, working at heights, lifting, rigging, and crane protocols
- Participate in job hazard assessments and toolbox talks
- Use required PPE and report any safety concerns or incidents immediately
- Customer Service and Teamwork
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and internal teams
- Coordinate schedules and job requirements with sales, fleet, and operations teams
- Represent Sandale Utility Products in a professional and respectful manner
- Mandatory Experience and Certifications
- Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience as a Fusion Technician
- McElroy Manufacturing Fusion Operator Training and qualification
- Integrity Fusion Large Diameter Electrofusion Installation qualification
- Georg Fischer Multi/Joint 3000 Plus Restraint System Installation Practice certification
- Working at Heights certification
- Confined Space certification
- Crane Rigging certification
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Additional Skills and Requirements
- Ability to travel anywhere in Ontario and work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and in remote job site locations
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Forklift operation experience an asset
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physically demanding work
