Responsibilities

  • Create initial case strategy following Client Guidelines and review of information available
  • Run Scottish court credit hire litigation to point of final evidential hearing/trial
  • Undertake discussions and negotiations with Insured, Insurer and Third Party Solicitors to pursue the rapid and appropriate settlement of cases and the apportionment of cost
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all case management, billing and management information systems to ensure completeness of records and aid business decision making
  • Allocate funds to the appropriate client accounts as per agreed procedures to ensure the client and Keoghs receive appropriate payments
  • Dealing with correspondence and telephone calls
  • Undertaking periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements

  • Provide written updates by email or letter to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress when requested

  • Previous experience of handling own caseload
  • Good standard of education - 3 GCSE's grade C or above or equivalent including Maths, English & Science as a minimum.

  • Have an understanding of case law and litigation practice & process and CPO

Additional Information

The role predominately involves defending litigated Scottish credit hire claims at Simple Procedure level (Small Claims track equivalent). However, there may be scope for progression to other court tracks following development. The successful applicant will be responsible or their own caseload files and for undertaking individual file handling tasks. This role is a remote role with the ability to work from across the UK. There will be a requirement to attend Keoghs Glasgow office on no more than 4 occasions. There is no Scottish qualification requirement. Training will be provided on Scottish procedure and candidates will have the direct support of Scottish senior file handlers and solicitors.
