The hiring range for this position is: $22.01 - $27.51 Hourly The deadline to submit applications is July 7, 2026. The City of Aurora Water Utility Worker performs manual labor duties and will assist with routine maintenance and repair functions for one of the multiple divisions within the Aurora Water Department. Employees in this position will demonstrate their work by modeling the Core 4 Values of: Customer Service, Professionalism, Integrity, and Respect. The City of Aurora is pleased to offer: Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training An annual bonus up to $500 (paid in December if eligibility criteria is met) for individuals whose job requirement is to maintain a CDL Additional advancement opportunities are available through Career Progressions and Promotions Training assistance through our online Learning Management System as well as a Tuition Assistance Program Boot (steel toe or other safety toe boots are required) allowance in the amount of $150.00 after successful completion of your introductory period and then yearly on your anniversary date, for full time (not temporary) employees The Aurora Water Department will provide uniforms shortly after you start, for full time (not temporary) employees The Aurora Water Department will provide all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (besides steel/safety toe boots) Wastewater The Wastewater Section performs preventive and emergency maintenance of wastewater mainlines. These tasks are performed daily using Vac-Con combination sewer cleaners and Closed Circuit Television equipment as well as other various support trucks and equipment. The vast majority of work is performed above ground so that entry into manholes is infrequent. The nature of our work is preventative, so we seldom have after hour's emergencies that require employees to respond to work at odd hours. All Wastewater employees participate in the standby program that requires being "on-call" 24-7, two to three weeks per year. Average overtime worked in this section is 30 hours per year. In addition, all divisions will perform the following primary duties and responsibilities: Loads and unloads tools Average overtime worked in this section is 35 hours per year Repair and replacement activities Perform routine equipment maintenance Assist work crews in the installation, repair, testing and maintenance of water lines, sewer lines, stormwater lines, channels and structures, large water meters, valves, fire hydrants, and other equipment Perform tasks using tools such as hand tools, shovel, jackhammer, and power tools May assist with on-call shifts as needed assist Public Works department with snow removal activities Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical principles Assists with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair activities on water infrastructure Operates and maintains vehicles Responds to emergencies Performs snow removal activities Performs standby duties Perform additional duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
