As a UX Developer Principal within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH. We are seeking a Principal UX Developer / Designer to lead the modernization, automation, and user-experience transformation of enterprise HR applications. This role sits at the intersection of UX design, Workday development, business architecture, and emerging Agentic AI capabilities, with a strong focus on improving how employees interact with HR platforms used across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep UX expertise, strong technical fluency in Workday and HR systems, and the ability to think strategically across value streams, business processes, and digital experiences UX Design & Development - Lead UX design and development efforts for internal HR platforms, ensuring intuitive, accessible, and scalable user experiences. - Design and enhance employee-facing applications across Workday, Pathfinder, Spotlight Points, and SharePoint. - Develop wireframes/prototypes, and interactive designs that translate business requirements into seamless user experiences. - Partner with developers and platform owners to implement UX solutions within Workday and integrated systems. Automation & Platform Modernization - Update and automate existing HR applications to improve efficiency, consistency, and usability. - Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual processes across HR digital experiences. - Collaborate on Workday integrations and enhancements aligned to enterprise standards. Business Architecture & Analytics - Act as a business architect, translating HR and enterprise needs into experience-driven solutions. - Analyze business processes and user journeys to identify improvement opportunities across HR value streams. - Leverage business analytics to inform design decisions and measure UX effectiveness. Agile Delivery & Collaboration - Work within an Agile delivery model, collaborating closely with product owners, engineers, and HR stakeholders. - Use JIRA to track UX and development work, dependencies, and delivery milestones. - Partner with HRIS Analysts and Workday teams to ensure alignment between design, data, and system configuration. - Coordinate with key stakeholders (e.g., Linda and Jesse) for detailed platform and roadmap alignment. AI & Innovation (Plus Skills) - Contribute to UX design and development initiatives that integrate or support - Agentic AI capabilities. - Explore and prototype AI-enabled experiences within HR applications. - Utilize Copilot Studio (preferred) to design or enhance intelligent, conversational, or assisted user experiences. Job Description Leverages deep understanding of activities, practices, deliverables and considerations in user interface development to lead technical design and development of complex user interfaces. Independently delivers complex design and development specifications for user-friendly and effective graphics, page layouts, icons, objects, navigation and templates. Leads others in the coding, testing, implementation and documentation of front-end development. Analyzes user experience on graphics, page layouts, icons, objects, navigation and templates. Maintains and upgrades interface functionalities for specific requirements; actively participates in code and design review as needed. Identifies common design flaws and usability problems. Directs business assessment and requirements analysis processes for the front-end development of graphical user interfaces. Facilitates the posting of complex data, programs, forms, HTML pages and graphic images for existing and new applications. Discusses interface design plans with Technology, Marketing and lines of business. Leverages modern tools and techniques to develop clean, efficient, and reusable code. Coaches, educates, and evangelizes junior staff on front end development best practices. Describes policies, practices and standards for effective user interface design. Creates and executes platform-level architectural strategies that enable implementation of design principles.
