We are seeking a Principal Engineer-BESS (Renewables) to join our Energy team in India. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer to contribute to impactful Energy projects across global offices and continue developing their technical expertise in a supportive, high-performing team. Lead electrical design for BESS and renewable projects (FEED, detailed design, assurance). Design the BESS balance of plant (BOP) systems. Develop grid connection solutions (11kV-400kV) for energy storage and renewables. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative solutions. Work on large projects and frameworks with renewable energy generation developers, mostly in UK and Ireland but also with some global projects. Undertake Front End Engineering Design (FEED), design for planning, feasibility studies etc. of energy storage systems including associated grid connections, control and metering. Support the team with bidding, project and quality management. Ready to push the limits of what's possible? Here's what we're looking for: Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in the energy sector. Suitable experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner's engineer role. A good understanding of both renewable generation and energy storage technology in general and, in particular, battery storage technology of all types and chemistries. Experience designing the MV or HV grid connection, metering, control requirements etc. associated with battery storage installations, including BESS collocated with renewable energy generation. Knowledge of grid connection requirements for renewable generation and energy storage, including G99, G100 and grid code requirements for transmission connected assets. Good understanding of electrical plant items and control systems such as transformers, cables, circuit breakers, HV Protection & Control. Good team player with a client-focused mindset and customer facing skills. Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects. The successful candidate will have the following Qualifications: B. Tech/ Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. 10-14 Years (Exposure to outside India projects preferably UK, USA, Canad, Middle East & ANZ region ) Software: HOMER, Microsoft Excel An understanding of Project management (incl. budget, time and quality). Experience of multi-discipline engineering projects. Experience of design & site construction review. The role is focused on energy storage, but knowledge of grid connection considerations will be advantageous. Professional registration is desirable (e.g., Chartered Engineer or working toward it). Experience with software tools (AutoCAD, EnergyPro, CYMCAP, Cableizer, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, DigSILENT. Knowledge of emerging technologies (Hybrid systems-grid forming inverters, LDES and alternative battery technology).
