The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. Description of Work Reporting directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, the primary purpose of this position is to install, maintain, alter, and repair plumbing systems and components at the journey level of the plumbing trade. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Possessing working knowledge of the methods of installation and repair of commercial plumbing, as well as safety precautions of the plumbing trade. - Using power tools associated with plumbing trade, cutting and threading pipe, utilizing motorized and mechanical tools, and being familiar with building, life, and safety codes. - Soldering copper pipe and utilizing the standard tools and materials required for those types of procedures. - Making material list(s) for projects and submitting to supervisor for review. - Making up lead joints and installing various types of plastic pipe, also knowledge in replacing stainless steel and porcelain plumbing fixtures. - Supervising semi-skilled male offenders and subject to emergency call back. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679 This job posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel. About Albemarle Correctional Institution: Albemarle Correctional Institution is located in Badin, North Carolina and houses up to 856 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
