Position Description The McGill University Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (Clinical) based at the McGill University Health Centre and/or the Jewish General Hospital and/or St-Mary's Hospital. The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate's qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine and our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The McGill University Health Centre, the Jewish General Hospital, and St- Mary's Hospital are major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada's internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is one of fifteen divisions within the Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Division is highly committed to excellence in clinical care and innovation, research, and medical education. The Division has a rich history of research excellence and international profile in many areas including diabetes, calcium/bone metabolism and thyroid disorders. Current research areas include metabolic disorders and the brain, energy metabolism and bone/muscle metabolism. The Division hosts one of Canada's leading Endocrinology training programs. In addition to playing an important clinical role in the Department, division members have excellent opportunities for collaborative educational and research endeavors with protected time for scholarly activities to ensure a rewarding and fulfilling career development. The successful candidate will also be appointed as the McGill Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. The incumbent will have a demonstrated record of success in academic performance and leadership and draw on strong interpersonal skills to inspire best practices and innovation. They will foster excellence in teaching, patient care, and research within the Division and will demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in these activities. The successful candidate will promote independent and collaborative research and fulfill administrative responsibilities at the institutional, university, regional, and provincial levels. The incumbent will be expected to maintain a clinical practice at the McGill University Health Centre and/or the Jewish General Hospital and/or St-Mary's Hospital. The Department seeks a transformational leader who will take a high performing Division to the next level of academic excellence. Applicants are encouraged to simultaneously apply to, and be considered for, the MUHC Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism , although this is not required. The successful candidate will have a clear vision of the evolving nature of Endocrinology and Metabolism, a demonstrated ability to communicate that vision, and the skill to encourage others to share it. The ideal candidate will be a unifying force strengthening cross-site collaboration. The McGill Division Director will ensure the pursuit of a common academic agenda for McGill Endocrinology and Metabolism at all its sites-including a focus on the following aspects: 1) Education, specifically undergraduate and postgraduate initiatives in Endocrinology and Metabolism; 2) Research, including promoting, supporting, and incentivizing McGill-wide Endocrinology and Metabolism research initiatives; 3) Clinical innovation; 4) Faculty development, mentorship, and wellness; and, 5) Cross-cutting advancement initiatives. McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected. Qualifications and Education Requirements Candidates must: Hold an MD degree and must have completed subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism; Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeo
