Innovation Technologist

Responsibilities

• Design, build and iterate functional prototypes using electronics, sensors, microcontrollers, motors, LEDs, robotics and other interactive technologies.
• Evaluate the feasibility, manufacturability and scalability of new concepts from prototype through commercialisation.
• Develop schematics, technical drawings and CAD models for fabrication and production.
• Test, troubleshoot and refine prototypes through rapid iteration and user feedback.
• Explore new materials, manufacturing processes and fabrication techniques to improve product performance and user experience.
• Work closely with designers, developers, strategists and project teams to transform ideas into compelling interactive experiences.
• Collaborate with external fabricators, manufacturers and technology partners to ensure products are built to specification and quality.
• Build proof-of-concepts using platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32 and other embedded systems.
• Support fabrication through 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC or other rapid prototyping methods where required.
• Continuously experiment with AI, IoT, computer vision, robotics, immersive technologies and other emerging technologies that could shape future products.

Requirements

• Minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Product Design Engineering or related disciplines.
• Strong passion for innovation, emerging technologies and creating things that have never been built before.
• Hands-on experience developing functional prototypes involving electronics and physical computing.
• Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi or equivalent), sensors, actuators, motors and embedded systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design and technical drawings.
• Experience working with fabrication vendors and manufacturers from prototype to production.
• Comfortable learning unfamiliar technologies quickly through experimentation and research.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to bridge hardware, software and user experience.
• Resourceful, curious and highly self-driven with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Able to manage multiple innovation projects simultaneously while balancing speed and quality.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts.
• Have a positive attitude and innovative mindset
• Interest in the emerging technologies and interactive experiences is desired
• Interest in the good user experiences design is desired
