Job Description Summary Systems Engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers, with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users' needs. The Systems Engineering discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Systems Engineering involvement in the design process encompasses everything from concept to production to operation. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Responsible for Mechanical Nuclear Island Hydraulic Systems (MNIHS) engineering activities that support the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design. Primary focus areas for the MNIHS team: 1. Overall ownership of mechanical design for the G11 - Boron Injection System, G20 - IC Pool Cooling and Cleanup System Systems, G22 - Shutdown Cooling System, G31 - Reactor Water Cleanup System, and G41 - Fuel Pool Cooling and Cleanup System, including both the DNNP-1 specific design and future design iterations. 2. Construction support of the DNNP-1 SMR currently under construction by OPG. 3. Procurement support of the DNNP-1 project for assigned systems. Conduct component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manage product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drive validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manage interface between components and execution organizations. Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manage the overall product configuration and configuration control system. Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; acquiring higher level knowledge and skills. Maintain a basic understanding of key business drivers; use this understanding to accomplish own work. Understand how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area. May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolve issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consult more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters. A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be include leading a junior team. For customer facing roles, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between customer and GE. Explain technical information to others. Required Qualifications 0 to 3 years of experience in the Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Systems Engineering within the nuclear industry. B.S. in engineering discipline from accredited university or college Eligibility Requirements This is a hybrid role based in Wilmington, NC - relocation is required (relocation assistance provided). Desired Characteristics Strong oral and written communication skills. Master's degree from an accredited university or college Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
