About the role
We're seeking a dependable, safety-focused Utility Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you'll support production operations by managing material flow, operating a variety of equipment, and ensuring our processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage grinding and planing queues to ensure operators have the materials needed for production.
- Operate and set up production equipment such as PMVs, powered saws, reclaim grinders, centerless grinders, planers, flippers, and balers.
- Perform reclaim grinding according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct TPE puck precision cutting, packaging, and inspection.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical or process issues.
- Record, maintain, and report accurate production and quality documentation.
- Support and communicate quality, safety, and process improvement actions.
- Inspect products and use measurement tools (e.g., tape measure, micrometers, UT, surface roughness testers) to verify compliance.
- Perform minor maintenance and assist maintenance or engineering teams with equipment repairs or setup.
- Safely operate Powered Motor Vehicles (PMVs) to move materials as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area following 5S and safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and demonstrate respect, integrity, and accountability in daily work.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and follow instructions, SDS sheets, SOPs, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Strong initiative and self-motivation with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using measuring or testing equipment preferred.
- Computer literacy; knowledge of ERP systems such as Movex or SAP is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically able to perform job duties in a manufacturing environment.
