THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel, assigned to the TASMG of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members, assigned to the TASMG of the Connecticut Army National Guard. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess the required length of specialized experience in the following: WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS: Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision. Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS: Experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, subassemblies and components. WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS: Experience performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge in installing, removing, operating, and repairing a variety of conventional and modified aircraft engines and accessory systems in order to troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and/or test different types of engines in aircraft test cells, maintenance shops, and on the flight line. Knowledge of repair methods, degrees of disassembly necessary, and the extent of rework required before reassembly. Knowledge of principles of electrical, electronics, heating, refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulics, internal combustion engines and small gas turbines as applies to powered ground support equipment and use of applicable technical publications, blueprints, diagrams, material, and maintenance control procedures. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Appointment): Enlisted: E-3 through E-6 UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit within state SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. CAREER LADDER: Predicated upon qualifications, individual could be hired at the WG-10 grade. An individual selected for this position at the lower grade will progressively be advanced to WG-10 upon achievement of required qualifications without further competition. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.
