Mechanical Engineer, Charging Systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in vehicle design
• Experience with mechanical design for power electronic devices
• Experience with the casting of metal components
• Experience with injection molding of plastic components
• Knowledge of automotive development/release process and long-term schedule planning
• Proficiency with CATIA V5 or V6 CAD software
• Experience managing requirements and compliance in Polarion.

As a Charging System Mechanical Engineer, your focus will be on the mechanical design of components for the L5 Electric Vehicle's High Voltage distribution and Charging systems. You will lead module development, managing the entire process from prototype to production alongside tier-one suppliers. This role requires defining system requirements based on a first-principles design approach and ensuring all components meet strict international standards (SAE, UL, IEC, ISO). You will also be responsible for creating critical documentation, including 3D/2D computer-aided drawings and detailed technical specifications. A major part of your work will involve cross-functional collaboration to break down and solve complex problems, identify root causes of failures, develop mitigation strategies, and integrate these learnings into new designs. Base Salary Range There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
