About the role

Hiscox USA is currently searching for a dynamic, engaging and solutions-oriented Sr. Underwriter to drive new property & casualty business and complex renewal business within the Entertainment sector in the west coast region. This position provides a unique opportunity for a property/casualty generalist or an entertainment specialist to join a fast paced, dynamic team to write policies tailored to the specific requirements of the Entertainment sector. Lines of business include commercial general liability, property, inland marine, umbrella, auto and workers' compensation. In addition to insuring film, touring bands and theater business, all businesses which feed into or off of the entertainment sector are included. Examples include venues, equipment rental houses, post-production facilities, recording studios and talent agents. Risks vary greatly in size and complexity (from start-ups to large, multinational entities). Responsibilities

  • Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company's strategy and guidelines for the product lines: https://www.hiscox.com/documents/brokers/ent-prod/646_entertainment_factsheet_broker.pdf
  • Develop new broker relationships and increase depth of existing broker relationships throughout the west coast to drive production
  • Engage with the national entertainment team to learn and teach collaboratively
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards
  • Monitor product results and develop ideas to increase productivity and profitability
  • At times, regional travel required including industry events and broker visits

  • 7+ years of experience in P&C Middle Market Package coverages; Entertainment experience preferred but not required
  • Customer-centric mind-set and passionate about the power of superior customer service and offerings
  • Strong understanding of sales principles, presentation, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive
  • Team-oriented, ability to collaborate and desire to share information across divisions and teams to further the overall goals of the company
  • Proven track record of understanding and delivering meaningful underwriting profit
  • Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality
  • The ability to identify business needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment
  • Innate service focus which enables one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners
  • B.A./B.S degree is preferred
  • Willingness to develop business, with travel throughout the west coast up to 25%, required
