Pay Range: $78,769.60 - $102,960.00 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Overview SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job) Organizes and manages the processes of central sterilization and OR Supply/Support to ensure operational efficiency, to adhere to organizational policies and procedures, and to achieve Capital Health (CH) mission to provide quality patient care. Acts as a resource for all departments that provide and perform sterilization within their departments. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Respects and understands the contributions of all team members. Supports management of patient support service area while maintaining smooth and efficient operations. Ensures improvement in practice setting by assuming responsibility of self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serving as a resource and a mentor. Demonstrates leadership in decision-making and problem-solving. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School diploma or equivalency and five or more years job related and supervisory experience. Experience: Five years of central sterile or sterile processing experience. Previous supervisory operational experience within sterile processing. CRCST or certified through national sterile processing program recognized by New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Other Credentials: Central Services Certification in Management, Current Central Services Certification in Management Knowledge and Skills: Strong background of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment knowledge. Proficient in computer applications such as Word and Excel. Leadership skills, multi-tasking, flexibility, priority-setting skills, knowledge of inventory and purchasing functions helpful. Usual Work Day: 8 Hours Reporting Relationships Does this position formally supervise employees? Yes If set to YES, then this position has the authority (delegated) to hire, terminate, discipline, promote or effectively recommend such to manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Surveys, samples and exercises discretion and judgement when evaluating the work process of employees and systems to ensure quality of practice. In collaboration with supervisors, OR educator and OR team leaders, initiates inservices for new products, new procedures, and current techniques. Keeps staff informed of changes to current practices within the industry. Acts as resource and advises all CH staff and departments with sterilization information guidelines. Understands, articulates and ensures compliance with AAMI standards and policies and procedures of the organization. Performs as a unit leader for quality improvement process. Explores opportunity for improvement which are evidence-based. Acts as liaison between OR staff and central sterile processing staff to facilitate and improve work processes. Demonstrates effective communication skills and assists in the resolution of conflict among inter- and intra-departmental team members. In collaboration with the Director of Perioperative Services, prepares, plans, monitors and executes budgetary standards, for both operational and capital budgets. Uses par levels to replenish every day used supplies and equipment needed for the performance of daily operations. Uses par levels to maintain control of inventory items located in the department. Oversees department and patient care equipment to ensure its maintenance and periodic inspection by service technicians to ensure safety and use. Creates an environment in which professional and personal growth is an expectation. Integrates high infection control standards and core values into every day work activities. Seeks new knowledge toward progression of professional growth via continuing education or self-development activities.
