The role of a CMM Technician involves ensuring that parts and components adhere dimensionally to engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires prompt execution of inspections to maintain component quality and ensure timely shipments to customers. The CMM Technician programs coordinate measurement machines (CMM) and conducts dimensional inspections on castings and other metal and plastic materials and components. Responsibilities also include, as needed, visual inspections, Positive Material Identification (PMI), and other inspections to verify quality. Expectations To excel in the role, you should: Develop, execute, and maintain CMM programs using PC-DMIS or FARO CAM2 software. Measure parts using equipment such as verniers, micrometers, thread gages, and optical/digital comparators. Additional inspection tasks: visual inspections, PMI (Positive Material Identification), and review documentation to ensure compliance with standards. Document inspection results. Verify Operator's measurements and aids in providing the proper inspection tools to the shop floor. Other tasks assigned by the supervisor To succeed in this role, you will need : Associate's degree or equivalent from a relevant field, or equivalent experience as a CMM Inspector/Programmer with 4+ years of experience preferably using PC-DMIS software. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T. Proficient in geometry and trigonometry. Ability to use a wide range of precision measuring instruments, including comparators, dial indicator gauges, verniers, micrometers, and thread gauges.
