What you'll do (the highlights) Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, the Recreational Counsellor - Canada Summer Job Assistant is responsible for assisting in the research, planning, development and facilitation of inclusive, community-based leisure and recreational programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities. What that looks like: Identify individual needs, abilities, strengths, and interests related to leisure and recreational activities. Research, plan, develop, and facilitate community-based leisure and recreational programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Develop and evaluate assessment protocols for ongoing evaluation of activities. Enrich recreational experiences for participants and address barriers they face. Ensure all activities are safe and align with DASCH's vision, mission, and values. Promote recreational activities through various mediums. Encourage participation of all individuals who attend recreational activities Collect, evaluate, and provide statistical reporting. Serve as a positive role model for staff, individuals and the community What you bring (and why you'll thrive here) DASCH team members are special. Your qualifications: Strong knowledge of intellectual disabilities and experience working in the field is an asset. Ability to work in a busy and dynamic environment. Completed Grade 10 in Canada, or you have achieved Level 6 on the Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment. A Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License (Intermediate Stage acceptable).
